What to Expect
The
trips are designed around a 10 day
schedule, beginning and ending in
Fairbanks. Whether you challenge
yourself with a goat trail hike or
winter mountaineering trip, or choose
to pamper yourself with a lightweight
hiking or horse pack trip, Wrangell
Outfitters can guide you with skill
and hospitality.
Historic
Horsfeld is a rustic and comfortable
base camp with a central cookhouse,
bath house, and tent cabins for sleeping.
The horses used on the trips live in
the area year round. They provide a
gentle, confident and relaxed mode
of transportation in the wilderness,
as well as a piece of living history.
Using horses, while uncommon in most
of the state, has been successful in
this area since the Chisana Gold Rush
of 1913.
