What's included in the hunt price?

Transportation from Fairbanks to Horsfeld and return, all accomodations, food, guide service, trophy preparation and care while at Horsfeld. Hotel reservations can be made for you in Fairbanks as well as arrangements for shipping of horns, capes and hides.

Where are tags and licenses available?

I am a licensed vendor for the state of Alaska, so all tags, licenses and export tags are available from me in Horsfeld or Fairbanks.

What do I need to bring?

Your hunting clothing, rifle, optics, comfortable boots, hunting pack and personal items in two duffels are standard. If you are from overseas or Canada, and have problems bringing a rifle through customs, arrangements can be made for you prior to your hunt to use a suitable firearm supplied by Wrangell Outfitters. A detailed gear list will be supplied should you choose to book a hunt with us.

Do I need horse experience?

No! We will teach you the ropes and ensure a safe and memorable hunt.

What's the guide's experience?

All of us are Alaskans with registered or Class A licences. Years of experience in Alaska in all facets of big game guiding, judging animals, trophy care, wilderness travel, safety and "horse-savvy" ensure you a professional, friendly and well run hunt. With our "two guides/one client" ratio, you can be assured of plenty of camp help and time spent hunting in the field.

What is our success rate?

With your honest effort you can expect to be successful in your quest of getting a good trophy quality animal. Our exclusive area, limited number of clients, and healthy game populations have continually produced trophy and record book animals for the past half century.

What about taking meat home?

The remote nature of Horsfeld and size of the airstrip make flying heavy loads out an expensive proposition. If you are determined, for example, to take all of your moose meat home, be prepared to pay for an additional air charter. Otherwise we will gladly prepare as much of the meat as can be taken with you when you depart on your scheduled flight out. Usually between 30 and 150 lbs., depending on horns, hides, capes and personal gear.

What about gratuities for the help?

10% of the cost of the hunt is a standard tip for a well-guided and run hunt. You may want to consider the camp help as well.
